CS400: Real-time 3D kiln imaging like you’ve never seen before
When the rotary kiln falters, everything stops: unplanned shutdowns ripple across the entire operation, costing time, resources, and money. Local refractory failures turn into hotspots, hotspots into cracks, cracks into weeks of downtime. That’s the reality plants have faced for decades.
For too long, operators have had to fight blind, relying on delayed signals, patchwork monitoring, and reaction after damage had already begun. The cost isn’t only financial; it’s the risk of safety incidents, wasted energy, and fragile production stability.
Now, with a system that focuses on anticipation, clarity, and precision, you can significantly reduce downtime and avoid total shutdowns.
This is what our CS400 Kiln Shell Monitoring System delivers.
The CS400 consists of an MP300 Line Scanner paired with an advanced software for data analysis and processing. The MP300 Line Scanner maps the kiln’s surface with maximum detail, delivering full-length thermograms that reveal anomalies as soon as they begin to manifest. Additionally, the device can be equipped with heavy-duty housing, to prevent damage from high temperatures and environmental strains.
With software support, the scans are also translated into a 3D thermal model of the kiln. This model, zoomable and customizable, presents temperature ranges, color zones, alarms per zone, and vital status data, such as burning zone temperature, scan rate, even the scanner’s own temperature, clearly and effortlessly on your screen.
Visibility is only the beginning. The system also archives data and creates predicting reports, which allows a better understanding of how the refractory wears over time. This is the key feature that makes a major difference between preventing damage and merely waiting for failure.
Because rotation adds complexity, the CS400 also provides integrated ring-migration monitoring, using proximity sensors to track each tire’s slip, rotation after rotation. If something shifts out of bounds, you're alerted immediately. No guesswork, no compromise.
Don’t let shadow zones interfere: Improve and customize as you go
At Selmatec, we take pride in developing solutions that keep expanding with your business and your needs. The CS400 is no exception. Thanks to its modular design, the CS400 can be linked to any cooling system in your plant (e.g: spray zones), providing a simple interface for remote control when immediate action is required. Furthermore, the CS400 supports additional devices (e.g. pyrometers) if shadow zones are present.
