Product overview
The billet cutting stage with pendulum shears is a highly critical part of industrial processing, where extreme speeds and temperatures make precision essential. Even small temperature differences can cause serious issues—billets that are too cold risk damaging the shears, while overly hot billets can deform and reduce product quality. Without accurate temperature monitoring, both equipment and process stability are put at risk.
Selmatec addresses this challenge with the PS-Inspector software, supported by a high-performance DIAS thermal camera. Using short-wave infrared imaging, the system continuously measures the temperature of fast-moving billets in real time. It allows users to define monitoring zones, track temperature profiles, and receive instant alerts when thresholds are exceeded, helping prevent damage and enabling timely maintenance decisions.
For reliable performance, proper camera placement and protection are crucial. Cameras are installed behind the shears to avoid distorted readings and are housed in water-cooled, stainless-steel enclosures with air knife systems to withstand heat, dust, and turbulence. Together, this integrated solution provides accurate, continuous thermal insight, improving process control, reducing equipment stress, and enhancing overall production stability.
